Update on progress

Redesigned layout of installation. It will be a small space, roughly 3 feet by 4 feet. Will have wall paper consisting of pages from books dealing with anxiety disorders and phobias.

  1. Notes from small group crit #1:

3' x 4' x 7' room (curtains or foam walls); wallpaper = pages from books on phobias; back wall = face/figure protruding from wall & look inside hole to see video; Many phobias? clarify what they are - is it the psychological anxiety induced by the phobia or the phobia itself that you want to represent? focus on personal experience (sleep paralysis or other); look at Tammy Knipp CASE STUDY 5510 http://www.siggraph.org/artdesign/gallery/S01/39.html research specifics and narrow down; how do you you include video in space and how do we interact with it? need real visual samples for Defense. show helplessness? Consider including yourself projected sleeping - frozeness of body could contrast with fast paced phobia video. really need to resolve the concept; not much shown but a couple of sketches on the blog

divided room space. Back wall painted and wall-papered with pages from books about phobia. The room is to have people interact with phobias and fears. Chris Borden style? Aren’t we just depicting fears instead of evoking fears? ‘Exploring reactions to the phobias’; NEEDS a MUCH more defined project -- still very ambiguous. Emphasize sleep paralysis. Tammy Knipp and spaces that are activated by audience participation. VISUALS need to be defined for her work. What is the video projection about?
